Casing Evaluation and Inspection SoftwarE (CASE)
CASE uses data from the CAST-V™ tool to provide accurate casing evaluation in both the image and cased hole mode. CASE software provides precise casing ID and thickness presentations that allow easy interpretation of casing damage. CASE software works with CAST-V tool data recorded in either the image or cased hole mode.
The CAST-V tool in the imaging mode can be used to monitor wear on the inner surface of the casing string. Its high vertical and horizontal resolutions nearly eliminate the chance of missing flaws in a string of pipe, thus preventing possible long-term problems. In the cased hole mode, the CAST-V tool provides accurate casing ID and casing thickness measurements.
CASE software provides detailed information on the condition of the casing—preventing minor problems from becoming major problems. CASE software consists of several different displays that can be adapted to the customer requirements. These presentations range from the raw amplitude and corrected travel time data to a sophisticated 3- dimensional image that provides an excellent view of casing damage and corrosion.
» CASE Software Features
CASE software contains the following features:
  • Delivers a more reliable indication of casing condition
  • Works with existing logging procedures and CAST-V tool data
» CASE Software Benefits
CASE software offers the following benefits:
  • Improves casing evaluation for both inner and outer defects
  • Corrects for tool eccentricity thus helping to distinguish even minute casing problems``
  • Log presentations can be customized to meet the specific requests or needs. Presentations include raw data, segmented curves and images, including 3-dimensional displays
  • Joint and depth listings of defects allow easy input into other programs or a simple method to monitor known casing deformities

This log effortlessly shows where a packer was set and did not release properly. The metal was peeled up when the packer was pulled. Track 1 provides gamma ray for correlation along with eccentricity and ovality. Eccentricity consists of both tool and casing eccentricity while ovality measures the casing ovality. Track 2 is the amplitude of the first arrival and can be used to visually indicate casing damage. Track 3 is an eccentricity corrected travel time for the first arrival. This will be used in determining casing internal diameter or radius. The calculated pipe radius is shown in Track 4. Track 5 shows the minimum, maximum and average of the pipe radius PRAD. This allows an easy indication of pipe wear. This log shows how both visually and numerically CASE can assist in casing evaluation.
» Health, Safety, & Environmental Benefits
  • Helps customers to monitor and prevent catastrophic casing problems
  • Proper CASE™ software usage allows monitoring of casing erosion / corrosion / rectification

Inputs Data from the CAST-V including: Travel Time, Fluid Travel Time, Pipe Thickness
Outputs Average, Minimum, and Maximum of Casing ID or Radius, Thickness. Images of Casing ID and Thickness. Text reports of casing abnormalities. Joint counter and listing of joint defects. Three-dimensional image of casing condition.
